Abstract. The priority in the professional training of future vocalists and teachers of solo
singing within the system of university education is the formation of professional competencies ensuring the success of concert performing, vocal and pedagogical activities. A significant part of the general and professional skills of a vocal student is formed while working on vocal compositions of different levels of complexity, different styles and genres. As practice shows, a significant percentage of graduates of higher art education institutions at the beginning of their vocal-performing and teaching careers experience difficulties in studying modern music and choosing appropriate forms, methods and means of its mastering. This problem encourages practitioners to thoroughly and comprehensively consider the methods of working on modern vocal compositions, which contribute to the effective preparation of students for further
concert-performing and vocal-pedagogical activities. The article discusses the prospects for introducing the music of Chinese composers into the educational process and basic methods of working on them in the solo singing class.
