Abstract. Currently, modern engineering education, combining pedagogical methods of
the classical engineering school proven in practice and innovative developments, provides
opportunities to use the entire arsenal of tools for training highly qualified specialists with the
sustainable implementation of the practice-oriented systematic approach combining methods of students’ value-motivated attitude to the specialty and the achievements of professional competencies in the engineering field in the profile of training. One of the methodological forms that provide technological capabilities for training specialists is course designing, which involves students implementing a creative engineering concept and research competencies in the development of projects for real objects. The article is devoted to the methodological aspects of course designing implemented according to the specialist programme within the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard for the Bridges specialisation at the present stage of professional education development.
