Abstract. The article examines the interrelationships of general self-efficacy, depression and quality of life. 886 students of Chinese universities were interviewed, including 164 men (18,5%), 722 women (81,5%) aged 16 to 23 years (M = 19,18, SD = 0,93). The Brunnsviken Brief Quality of life scale (BBQ), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) were used. The least squares regression analysis of the path was used as a statistical method. The results showed that the direct effect of general self-efficacy on the quality of life of college students was 0,52 (p < 0,001); the indirect effect of general self-efficacy on the quality of life of college students through the intermediary role of depression was 0,06 (p <0,001). Thus, it was revealed that overall self-efficacy significantly improves the quality of life of university students. At the same time, depression mediates the relationship between overall self-efficacy and the quality of life of university students.
