IDENTITY OF A PERSON — THE PLURALISTIC APPROACH TOWARDS THE PROCESS AND PREDICTORS OF FORMING

This article is devoted to the problem of personal identity formation. The concept of
identity is analysed in the article, various socio-psychological approaches to the study
of this phenomenon are considered. When considering each approach, a transition
to personal identity is performed. Then the concept of socialisation is considered as
the main factor in the formation of personal identity. The article also features social
institutions, they are the main channels of socialisation. At the end of the article, the
transition to ethnic identity is made, since this type of identity affects the formation of
personal identity. At the end of the article, the author gives generalising conclusions
regarding the issue of personal identity.
