The article considers the main characteristics of the moral and psychological properties
of a convict’s personality undergoing special changes under the influence of the
prison subculture. Their influence on the process of correction and re-socialisation
of convicts is analysed. Various groups of convicts, the most and least exposed to the
prison subculture, are identified, their significant moral and psychological qualities are
described.
