The article examines the formation of cognitive subjectivity in first-year cadets as
an emerging interaction of levels of emotional intelligence, volitional qualities and
academic performance. At the same time, emotional components (empathy, control of
one’s emotions, recognition of other people’s emotions, self-motivation) and volitional
qualities (independence, discipline, courage) are taken into account from the standpoint of vocational guidance (military specialties), and the academic performance factor is taken to understand the success of adaptation to a new way of life. The identified relationships “Emotional Intelligence – Subjectivity” and “Subjectivity – Volitional Qualities” made it possible to assess the adaptive abilities of cadets (volitional qualities), their ability to understand and manage their own and other people’s emotions (emotional intelligence), skills of decision-making and management (subjectivity).
Keywords: subject, subjectivity, emotional intelligence, volitional qualities, reaction
moment, self-control, academic performance.
