The origins of jazz emerged in America in the late 19th century. For a century and a half
this phenomenon has been influenced by the musical culture and has evolved. Hence the interest in teaching jazz music is not surprising. The article substantiates the relevance of early musical development at children’s art schools and the need for preschool units as a method of developing musical and creative abilities of children. The proposed methods of teaching contribute to the effective development of professional qualities of musicians. The aspects related to the specifics of early development and teaching of jazz are considered. The stylistics of pop and jazz music is characterised by a special approach to teaching children of preschool age. Exploring all the versatility and multifaceted goals in working with preschoolers, the author makes an attempt to find the best solution to the tasks at hand.
