MISTAKES OF FOREIGN PHILOLOGY STUDENTS IN WRITING ABSTRACTS FOR SCIENTIFIC PAPERS AND WAYS TO CORRECT THEM

The article is devoted to identifying the relationship between the skills of written
speech activity of foreign students, characteristics of the speech genre and the ability
to write a text in the scientific style. Based on the data obtained during the ascertaining
experiment, as well as in the course of the linguistic and methodological analysis
of the violations committed, it became possible to divide errors into three types in
accordance with the three main competencies of written speech activity: linguistic
(stylistic organisation of a text), speech-related (consistency and clarity of information
presentation) and discursive competencies (genre of a text). Based on the analysis, the
author makes a conclusion about the advisability of choosing the cognitive approach
to learning and establishes a connection between competence, writing skills and the
type of error.
