The examination situation is very demanding and can lead to stress. The results of the psychological research testify to the negative impact of examination stress on the emotional, cognitive, motivational and volitional spheres of students’ mental organisation. The intensity of fear experience among students is determined by many factors. The subject of this study was to examine the relationship between examination fear and perfectionism. The study involved 60 first-year female students. The results of the study confirmed the existence of the relationship between the level of examination fear and perfectionism. A normal level of perfectionism reduces the likelihood of examination fear, while pathological perfectionism increases the likelihood of its increase. A high level of socially prescribed perfectionism and self-directed perfectionism also increases the likelihood of student fear of examination.
Keywords: perfectionism, examination fear, examination stress, pathological perfectionism, socially prescribed perfectionism, self-directed perfectionism.
