The article is devoted to the relationship of social and psychological adaptation and
creativity of primary school children, in particular, of cognitive styles: field-dependence
/ field-independence, flexibility / rigidity, complexity / simplicity, tolerance / intolerance
of ambiguity and information of the creative type. The authors provide a theoretical
substantiation of potential interdependencies of certain parameters of social and
psychological adaptation and component continuum of cognitive styles. At the empirical
level, the diagnostic research of 322 children aged 8–9 and 10–11 years confirmed the
hypothesis of the existence of sustainable relationships between cognitive styles and
parameters of social and psychological adaptation.
Keywords: cognitive style, social and psychological adaptation, creativity, primary
school age.
