The purpose of this study is to analyse the nature and direction of Muslim development
in Russia in the post-Soviet period, to identify the specifics of its regional variants.
Moreover, various models of Islamic development are revealed by means of the
example of the republics of Tatarstan and Dagestan as the most illustrative centres of
this process. The factors that determine this speciァcity are noted. Scientiァc novelty is
due to the expediency and practical relevance of understanding regional Islamic political
phenomena in modern Russia. As a result of the study, it is concluded that there is no
single Muslim space in modern Russia and that the division of the Russian Islamic community into various non-united areas remains.
