EDUCATIONAL CHORAL DEPARTMENTS IN CHINA: THE CURRENT STATUS AND DEVELOPMENT TRENDS

The article brie墓y discusses the current situation of choral conducting education in 
China, taking into account a number of objective and subjective factors that have their 
explanation in the current composing practice, socio-political, historical and cultural 
contexts. The author states a certain lag of this type of musical education in compari-
son, in particular, with piano training. The article describes the important moments 
for choral conducting education in China – the appearance of the Brst curriculum for 
choral conducting training, publication of theoretical and methodological works of 
Chinese authors, creation of the Council for Choral Performing Arts, etc. The author 
shows the importance of the methodological approaches and artistic principles that 
are applied in the real musical and educational environment and give prospects of free 
artistic development to choral education in China.
