The article summarises the results of the empirical study on the peculiarities of sociopsychological adaptation of first-year cadets of a military university. It is noted that the nature of adaptation depends on cadets’ perception of themselves, the surrounding world, interpersonal relations, as well as on the ability to change behaviour in social interaction, service and educational activities. It is stressed that the further personal development of a soldier largely depends on the level of adaptation in the first years at a military university.
