The paper discusses the creative and teaching work of the outstand-
ing artist of the second half of the 20th century A. A. Mylnikov
and characterizes his contribution to the formation of painting in
China. In addition, the paper describes further independent work of
his students in their homeland — Chinese graduates of I. E. Repin
St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture
and Architecture. They are creators of art which combines the
achievements of the Russian realistic art school and traditions of
the Chinese national painting.
