The article considers the possibility of developing a unifi ed methodological approach to
the organisation of psychological support in universities, refl ecting the goal defi ned by
the guidance documents of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation – creating conditions for successful adaptation of students. As a result of the study of the interaction of students with the university educational environment, a psychological phenomenon “socio-psychological comfort” was identifi ed. It was established that students’ socio-psychological comfort is a mental state that determines their subjective assessment of the success of interaction with the university educational environment. Consequently, ensuring high socio-psychological comfort of students in an educational environment of a higher education institution through the creation of conditions for successful adaptation can be taken as a unifi ed methodological apparatus of psychological support.
