The article deals with the transformation of the modern society in the context of in-
formatisation, digitalisation, and virtualisation processes. Positive and negative conse-
quences of these tendencies are revealed. In conditions of technological changes in soci-
ety, the availability of information, communication and digital technologies is becoming
an essential element of social infrastructure. But at the same time social inequality is
increasing, transforming itself into digital inequality. The article formulates a number of
recommendations to “soften up” the problem of digital inequality in modern conditions.
