The paper is aimed at identifying the ethno-cultural specifi cs of
lexemes having the meaning “evil” and used by modern Chinese
writers. An extensive authentic material of Chinese fi ction and
essays is included in the analysis. Using the method of continuous
sampling, 51 lexical units with the lexeme “evil” were selected,
and a summary table was compiled. The table demonstrates the
concrete meaning of the indicated lexical units.
