The paper presents the analysis of the role of conceptual metaphor
in the texts of the English-language Internet discourse devoted to the
threat of radical Islam. Being one of the tools that infl uence the forma-
tion of reality perception, the conceptual metaphor is extensively used
in the English-language mass media to deliver the new concept of
ISLAMIC THREAT. The most productive areas regarded as a source
of metaphorization are war, society, human health, mythology. Despite
being imperfect, the reasoning in the media discourse, due to the use of
conceptual metaphors, can be very effective.
