The article is devoted to the issue of planning methods of painting
restoration. The main focus is on the restoration of Chinese paintings
collected in the Hermitage. The article relies on a cultural-historical
method and uses the method of comparative analysis. The work lists
six parts of the procedures for painting restoration that require sci-
entifi c and systematic analysis. It briefl y compares the similarities
and differences between China and Russia in painting restoration.
The restoration of ancient paintings is an international problem. The
scientifi c and standardized procedure for painting restoration is the
main idea of each cultural professional involved in the protection
of relics aimed at preserving the precious material spiritual wealth
of the mankind.
