The article contains the cognitive analysis of the Quran «al-Fatihah» verses. The author reviews translations of the “al-Fatihah” surah from Arabic into Azerbaijani, Russian and German languages. Translation of sacred text requires translation mastery and has certain characteristics. Translations of the same text in the same language often do not
match, owing to the change of the popular cultural perceptions as well as the relevance of the religious concepts in the course of time, which opens opportunities for the translator’s interpretation. Quran ayats emerging in the specifi c cultural environment need further clarifi cation, even for the people who follow Islam.
