Recreational activities have a significant educational potential that has not been fully
studied yet and insufficiently demanded in the theory and practice of training specialists
in various fields, including pedagogics in teacher training. The article presents the
structural content of cultural and leisure activities of pedagogical students in view of
its major components, orientation and nature of the relationship with other activities.
During the pedagogical experiment it was found that the students of the experimental
group assimilated the structural content of cultural and leisure activities, their
characteristics, types and forms, functions, criteria of effectiveness, and were proficient
in the organisation and carrying out of cultural and leisure activities among students
of middle and older age. The results of the pedagogical experiment demonstrated the
effectiveness of its use with children in their study-free time.
