IMPERATIVES AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR THE DIALOGISATION OF SCIENTIFIC TEXT

S. T. Nefedov
Price: 50 руб.
Explicit imperatives are rarely used in scientific communication. Their text frequency in
German research articles and monographs corresponds to about 4% of the total number of text predications and their formal variation is limited to 5 main grammatical types: vgl.- imperative, s./siehe-imperative, wir-imperative, conditional wir-imperative and manimperative. By virtue of their intrinsic constant reference to the addressee the imperatives dialogise the process of scientific argumentation. In contexts of scientific knowledge representation authors use them with exclusively pragmatic purposes to strengthen their own theoretical positions and provide evidence of their professional competence as well as for simulation of cooperative collaboration with the target recipient.
K e y w o r d s: directivity, explicit imperative, written academic communication,
linguistic discourse, language of science, academic linguistic writings, research article
and monograph.
