THE MAGNA HUNGARIA ISSUE AND UGRIAN GYDRONYMY OF THE SAMARA VOLGA REGION

N. V. Belenov
Price: 50 руб.
The paper describes an attempt to consider the complex and multidimensional problem
of localisation of the Hungarian ancestral home in terms of hydronymy. Based on the
analysis of medieval sources of the pre-Mongol period and hydronymy of the Samara
Volga region, the author puts forward a hypothesis that one of the possible areas could
be the Middle Volga region, and more specifically – the left bank of Volga, within the
boundaries of the feeders Bolshoy Cheremshan – Bezenchuk.
Key words: hydronymy, Samara Volga region, Ugro-Hungarians, Magna Hungaria,
etymology.
