The article presents the results of the empirical study on the relationship of sociopsychological adaptation and learning motivation, carried out among students of technical and classical universities. It is established that successful adaptation is promoted by such personality traits as extraversion, sociability, aggressiveness (understood as active selfrealisation and assertion of one’s interests), lability (as flxibility in behaviour), selfacceptance and acceptance of others, predominance of positive emotions, internality and responsibility for one’s actions.
