 The paper is devoted to the important aspect of studying the features of speech
development of younger children. The author carries out a comparative analysis
of the features of mastering vowel-syllabic word structures by 3-year-old children
with speech deviations and normal speech development. The paper contains the data
characterising the heterogeneous nature of reproduction of vowel-syllabic word
structures by younger children with speech deviations, which helped to defie criteria
of differential diagnostics of retarded and defective speech development according to
the indicators under study.
