The confrontation of states competing for control of the world of information resources
became a conceptually new area of application of force action. The main challenges
of virtualisation include: the development of impersonal virtual communities, that are
alternatives to real societies; personality transformation; deepening of the existing gap
between the developed and developing countries; worldwide separation of groups of
people connected with information technology; concentration of intellectual resources
in transnational corporations and the most developed countries; inhibition or cessation of the scientifi c and technical progress in non-informatised societies, accompanied by the increased intensity of fi nancial and social crises.
