an inseparable aspect of interlanguage communication in the sphere of diplomacy. With the aim of making the process of international communication as full and as effective as possible diplomatic translators should be capable of rendering the information adequately and precisely in the target language. The present paper is concerned with the ways of rendering modal meanings expressed through modal verbs from English into Russian in the text of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
