The article is devoted to the study of the volunteer movement in the context of its impact on the development of civic engagement of youth today. Points of view of various
experts on this issue are discussed. The author stresses that the development of civic
engagement of youth is the process of understanding the rules and norms of generally
accepted relationships between an individual and society, which determines the need
for self-actualisation of every person as a complete individual, understanding the entire
scope of his/her competences and obligations. The author notes that the formation of civic engagement among youth through volunteerism is characterised by social and civil co-creation, which directs the joint efforts of young people to understanding and overcoming the problems associated with protection of their and other peoples’ legitimate rights and interests. Social and civil co-creation helps to fully realise the priority of human values, civic duty and responsibility and ensures the development of skills of supporting other people. The author’s conclusions are presented and justifi ed.
