The article is written within the cognitive and culturological trends of modern linguis-
tics. It deals with comparative analysis of English and Russian adjectives making a syn-
onymic series of the adjectives “interesting/интересный”. The purpose of analysis is
the identifcation of the general and various in these adjectives and establishment of
hierarchical relations.
