The Russian art market is now at the stage of forming and has a number of regional
characteristics. The development of this type of business signifcantly differs in the capital and regions. This process is largely infuenced by various social institutions and a number of cultural, economic and historical factors. One of these factors is the interaction of commercial and government institutions, such as higher educational establishments and creative professional organisations. Among the examples of this cooperation are numerous large-scale projects of the Rostov exhibition centre Vertol-Expo and organisations involved in shaping the contemporary art market in Rostov-on-Don.
