The author of the article analyses the particularities of the characters’ style in Ch.
de Laclos’ novel “The Dangerous Liaisons”. The study reveals personal traits of the
characters and their motives for writing in this or that style. In conclusion a letter is
considered as a kind of strategic arms, and style as the main “ally” of the author in
working on the letter’s aesthetic component.
