The paper covers the globalisation problems in the context of the new approaches to management of particular territories. The author argues that many of the problems are easier to deal with at the regional level. This is due to the fact that within a specifi c region mechanisms for solving the main social problems are more distinct. In addition, specifi c regional associations have strong historical traditions, and this not only helps to solve acute problems of life, but also to ensure sustainable development of a particular region. Sustainability of a region, according to the author, gives certain guarantees to the whole society.
