The article considers the variative motives of duality, anonymity and masonry in the
story “The Tomb of the Warrior” by M. Aldanov. The author of the article argues that
the usage of the motives of duality, which accompany a number of events and reveal the
characters, their actions and thoughts, allowed Aldanov to plunge into the psychological
depths of human personality and, more generally, into the philosophical depths of history.
