The author examines the mechanism of objectivation of the most important human
feelings as a way of individual therapy. The transformation of a feeling into an image
can be based on the principle of participation, then a subject’s internal state obtains
all features of a myth, it is “overwritten” in a gentle mode and “lived” again. Atypical
situations, staggering a person’s worldview and emotional balance, need a different
mechanism: following R. Otto, and C. Jung the author calls these feelings “numinous
experience” and talks about the lack of numinous images in modernity, which complicates
objectivation and, accordingly, self-therapy of the psyche.
