The paper covers the interrelation of a person’s preferences in art and system of values. The author analyses the results of the research on art preferences and value orientations of the youth in Saint Petersburg. The author makes conclusions about the importance of art in the life of the modern youth, the nature of connection between the interest in art and value orientations, and the influence of values and life-purpose orientations of young people on the choice of significant qualities of their favourite heroes, characters of art works.
