Research Publication in the Age of Marketization

 The article discusses the current trends of research publications from the point of view of discursive communities and the scientometric approaches to research activities and journal rankings. The challenges to Russian scholars’ participation in global discursive communities through publications in the leading world journals are
further analysed. The differences between the discursive conventions of Russian and world research publications are highlighted, particularly the ones based on the differences in reference styles.
