The article is devoted to the results of application of the information analysis method to
studying a person’s role in the evolution of human communities of various sizes. It is
shown that the standard view about the growth of a person’s role in the critical period
of social evolution can be explained by information activity of the individual, which
becomes comparable with activity of the whole community. This occurs because of the
ideology, programme and organisation for its introduction into the community’s life.
Thus, the information approach gives a relatively correct estimation of the opportunity of
the individual factor’s influence in various periods of social evolution, which especially
increases in a crisis phase of development.
