The article examines professional self-consciousness of choir singers taking into account the “singer – listener” relations. The features of manifestation of “real” and “ideal” selfconcepts in singers’ consciousness are examined by means of test diagnostics. The author analyses the psychological attitude of musicians to the audience that gives an estimate of the quality of performed music in the context of the concepts of a “real listener” and “ideal listener”. The article contains the data on the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the research results and the author’s recommendations: to establish effective communication with the audience during a concert (the rules of “convincing performance”); to prevent nervousness of performing in public.
