The article discusses the causes for alienation of school students from studies due to
both socio-cultural conditions and features of the education process in biology. Much
attention is paid to the psycho-physiological characteristics of adolescents that determine their study problems. The authors prove the value of project-based learning technologies for the development of study motivation and cognitive interest of students and propose topics of training and research projects in the field “General Biology”.
