The article is dedicated to understanding the various cosmological theories according to ancient Indian beliefs. The basic concepts are listed, and the core of cosmogonic myths in the Vedic paradigm is revealed. The author analyses sacred texts describing different theories of the origin of the world and man and discusses ancient Indian reflections on the factors and causes for the origin of the world and man as the primary principle of creation. The systematic understanding of the sacred texts implies the variation of answers to the questions under discussion.
