The article focuses on the transformational tendencies in the Russian society, primarily the so-called massification and McDonaldization. Social determination of marital relations is based on the political, economic, sociocultural, demographic
and spiritual needs of a developing society, which are largely responsible for the changes in the value and meaning of family as the basic social unit.
