The paper is devoted to interpretation of the image of water in the piano works of Chinese composers. The paper determines the philosophical meaning of the term “water” in Chinese music. The author considers specifi city of interpreting the image of the water element in musical compositions, determines the signifi cance of national traditions in the formation of music stylistics. The most common techniques of compositional mastery of Chinese authors are revealed. The paper provides the overview of the most representative opuses devoted to the theme of water: “The Liuyang River” by Wang Jianzhong, “The Sound of the Waves” by Van Leesan, “Refl ection of the Moon in Two
Sources” by Chu Wanghua.
