Wang Tieniu is an outstanding Chinese artist who has completed academic painting training in Russia and has brought the central concepts of Russian landscape painting to his work. In his works, the artist manages to combine the techniques of realistic painting with the principles of Chinese brush techniques. He has deep and sincere feelings for the Russian landscape and true respect for the artistic and cultural heritage of Russia.
This paper is devoted to revealing the creative concepts of Wang Tieniu’s oil paintings created during the open-air practice in Russia. Through the art critical analysis of Wang Tenu’s paintings, the author fi nds out his artistic views and methods of expressing the author’s feelings.
