The paper is devoted to the creative evolution of the largest Chinese composer Ma Sytsun. The research focus of this paper turns out to be the problems of the relationship between Western trends in Ma Sytsun’s musical composition with elements of folklore and Chinese traditional culture. In accordance with this, the author seeks to trace the creative evolution of the composer and the eastern and western components of his composer’s style. The features of Tibetan music traced in the “Tibetan poem” by Ma Sytsun are analyzed. The conclusion of the study is that Ma Sitsun in his work gradually took various steps to combine specifi c forms of Chinese music and literature, as well as forms of musical and theatrical art with Western European music.
