Characteristics of Chinese Piano Music Performance

Chinese piano music is a specifi c phenomenon of the China’s musical culture: Chinese composers turn to Western instruments and performing techniques, creating works fi lled with national fl avor. During the short history of its distribution in China, the piano has become a very popular instrument, and has also a signifi cant impact on the development of Chinese music. The focus of this study is to consider the problem of playing the Chinese piano music, by choosing certain techniques. The paper attempts to characterize the piano music of China, as well as to analyze the features of its performance.
