Literary Theater On Leningrad Television

The paper deals with the phenomenon of literary theater that appeared 
on Leningrad television and received its creative development in the 
1960s and 1970s. It is an original type of television creative work that 
combines the literary foundation, specifi cs of theater, communicative 
features of television and technological techniques of cinema. Based 
on the analysis of artistic possibilities, the author concludes that even 
now the “Literary theater” is to a large extent one of the most pro-
ductive and organic forms for television broadcasting, which aims to 
introduce the viewer to the best examples of Russian, world classics 
and modern literature.
