Problems of Texture in Russian Studies of Musical Forms in the Second Half of the 20th Century

The study of musical texture is a special fi eld of knowledge in Russian music 
theory. Traditionally, texture issues have been considered in the context of 
such theoretical disciplines as instrumentation, polyphony, and harmony. 
In the field of harmony, connections were established between texture 
and fi guration, texture and voice science. In addition, there was a special 
research vector determined by the ratio of texture and a musical form. 
The subject of this paper focuses on the study of texture problems, which has 
received its coverage in works on the analysis of musical forms. The proc-
esses of organizing the texture and the form are not in accord with each 
other, so they are interpreted differently in the studies. The paper considers 
some theoretical positions of L. A. Mazel, E. V. Nazaykinsky, V. V. Zaderatsky, 
E. A. Ruchevskaya, V. N. Kholopova, M. S. Skrebkova-Filatova.
