The article deals with the book Lessons of Liszt by A. Boissier,
analyzing it from the standpoint of modern methodological
guidelines. The main attention is paid to the identifi cation and
interpretation of the contradictions, which occur in the statements
of Boissier. The article touches upon the issue of Liszt’s methods
aimed at improving piano techniques and discusses Liszt’s peda-
gogical ideas as an integral system.
