The works of many Russian scholars are devoted to the description of the
linguocultural concept on various examples of its language representation,
including within the framework of an artwork. Nevertheless, in modern
linguistics it is questionable whether the artistic concept, which discloses
author’s reinterpretation of kernel concept meanings while creating and
developing his or her own ideas on the subject, should be distinguished
within the literary work considered. The aim of this paper is to analyze lan-
guage representation of the concept «THEATRE» in the novel “Theatre”
by W.S. Maugham. On the basis of the performed analysis, the differentia-
tion between linguocultural and artistic concepts is proposed.
Keywords: concept, linguocultural concept, artistic concept, concept representation
