The article deals with the system of terms in the theory of musical texture as a special area of the musical theory aimed at studying regularities of musical texture structure. Turning to the most material element of the musical system has predetermined emergence of a signifi cant layer of metaphorization, which has become a feature of this terminology system. The vector of scientifi c knowledge refl ection has been chosen as the main setting for consideration. The author comes up with certain aspects of
studying the terminology system: study of evolutionary processes in term development, consideration of various research interpretations for specifi c terms, introduction of new terms, preservation of the traditional terminology for the musical theory.
